At the beginning of the year I went through and made some New Year’s resolutions. One of those is that I wanted to get up and do five SOTAs this year. That isn’t much per say but also had other radio endeavors on the list as well. So this last weekend looked to be a great time to get up to one of them. Weather was good and I had recently gotten some new radio gear that I ended up completely not using as the peak was a bit busy.

I ended up choosing W0C/FR-085 for this activation as it had some great views and if I started off at the Green Mountain West Trailhead then the climb to the top was going to be a lot easier than coming from the east! The climb was, in fact, a decent climb. It’s pretty tame for the first 3/4 of the hike and then gets pretty steep. The really nice part of this climb is that for most of the steep part there are stairs that have been put in place with boulders/rocks and flattened. Crazy the amount of work that was put in to get those in place! Very grateful for them!

Getting on top of the peak and being right above Boulder, CO it was pretty easy to activate the peak on 2m FM. In just a couple minutes I was able to get my four contacts and everyone was a joy to make contacts with!
